Giriraja-Govardhana is situated some fourteen miles west of Mathura. Sri Krishna protected Braja Dham and Brajavasis by holding the enormous Govardhan Hill on the little finger of His left hand for seven days, thus shattering the pride of Indra. Giriraja-Govardhana has descended from Sri Krishna’s transcendental abode Goloka-Vrindavana to Braja on this Earth planet.

The parikrama path around Govardhan goes a route of about 7 Kos (22 kms), round by the Govardhan Parvat, Jatipura, Manasi Ganga, Radha Kunda – Shyama Kunda, Kusum Sarovar and ends on Danghatti temple.
